Twin Embers | Dani Larkin

March 17, 2024

The Square, Vancouver, Canada

Presented by Rogue Folk Club and CelticFest Vancouver

TWIN EMBERS

Having lived coast-to-coast, and little bit everywhere in between, Danielle Leonard has worked with a variety of bands over the years, both in the studio and on the road! She is an experienced performer and instructor in various Celtic and Canadian styles, and has toured across Canada and the United States, both as a solo and group performer. Danie loves to try new takes on old tunes, and incorporate her own tunes into the mix.

Annika Wilson has made quite the name for herself as one of Vancouver's finest fiddlers. Inventive and lively, Annika's fiddle style is heavily influenced from Cape-Breton and Scotland, but is in no way bound by it. Her music has led her to perform on both coasts of Canada, the US, & Ireland. She has also received instruction from some of North America's top fiddlers including Mairi Rankin, Natalie MacMaster, & Liz Carroll.

DANI LARKIN

Beguiling, intense, driven folk songs expertly accompanied by guitar and banjo, singer-songwriter Dani Larkin moves through ruminations on love and experiences of wildness, loss and mystery, steered with a gentle strength and engagingly calm conviction.

Larkin’s debut album, Notes For A Maiden Warrior, was nominated for ‘Best Single’ (2022), ‘Best Album’ at Northern Ireland Music Prize (2021), and Best Emerging Artist at RTE Folk Awards (2021) which put Larkin firmly on the map of contemporary Irish artists to take note of.

2022 saw Larkin tour with Declan O’Rourke, Ye Vagabonds and Wallis Bird as well as performing at Folk Alliance, SXSW, Reeperbahn, English Folk Expo, WOMEX, and a profound performance at the RTE Folk Awards . In addition to appearances with Glen Hansard and Snow Patrol, it is clear that Larkin has firmly established herself as a must-see artist on the national and international stage.

2023 has seen the singer-songwriter perform her first run of sold out shows in New York and a debut tour in Australia at a series of festivals and headline shows including the world-renowned Portfairy Folk Festival.

In 2023 Larkin followed up her critically acclaimed debut with Walking With Natives, which coincided with an Irish Tour during which she sold out shows in Belfast and Dublin followed by headline tours in South Korea and Finland. In addition to collaborations with the Ulster Orchestra and the RTE Concert Orchestra, Walking With Natives is a pathway to the beyond.

Picked by RTE Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, Double J (Australia) and Folk Radio UK as a rising star on the Irish folk and alternative scene. With upcoming television appearances on Fanning At Whelans and Sessions From Oblivion, Larkin is truly ‘One of the finest songwriters of our time’. An artist renowned for her unforgettable live performances, she has the ability to blend the old and new within the contemporary landscape of her own experience.
